With its two innovative medical devices, RF Health has doubled its revenue in 2024, with significant year-over-year growth. An estimated 3,800 patients were served at the end of 2023, and more than 13,000 were served by December of 2024. With a significant long-term hospital contract kicking off in 2025, the MAC System will impact an additional 17,000+ patients per year over the next five years.
“When I reflect on all that we accomplished in 2024, I couldn’t be more proud of the team,” said RF Health President and CEO Jason Bobay. “We’ve seen momentum on all sides – growth in our customer base and number of patients impacted, increasing validation of our MAC System efficacy, partnerships with leading healthcare improvement companies Vizient and Premier, published articles in peer-reviewed journals, and more. The RF Health team is dedicated to getting our products into the hands of innovative care providers, and we made great strides in 2024 to accomplish that.”
Proven Outcomes and Efficacy
In 2024, MAC System efficacy was highlighted in two peer-reviewed articles – published in the Journal of Trauma Nursing and the American Journal of Nursing – adding to a growing body of evidence of reduced complications from hospital-acquired immobility, enhanced clinical usability for nurses, and reduced tripping hazards created by tubes and cords. Indianapolis’ Community North Hospital also published a poster highlighting MAC System use in their high-risk Ortho-Neuro-Spine unit. Findings here indicated a reduction of DVT from eight to zero, with improved patient comfort, independence and satisfaction, and increased compliance to DVT prevention prophylaxis.
Forging New Partnerships
In 2024, RF Health established partnerships with healthcare improvement companies that underscore the MAC System’s uniqueness and effectiveness. Vizient awarded the MAC System with an Innovative Technology contract, based on the recommendation of the MAC System by hospital experts who serve on one of Vizient’s customer-led councils. And, Premier, Inc. awarded a national group purchasing agreement for Vascular Compression Therapy and a Technology Breakthrough Designation for the Movement And Compressions System.
RF Health also embarked on an academic collaboration this summer with Butler University’s Lacy School of Business – bringing MBA students into the conference room to apply their fresh learnings and cumulative knowledge to add value for RF Health as part of their capstone project. Students worked in groups to tackle device expansion in a new setting, and conducted extensive research and analyzed the marketplace, the competitors, the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the new venture. The students worked closely with RF Health to learn the ins and outs, and at the conclusion of the semester, they presented their business plans.
Awards and Recognitions
RF Health wrapped up 2024 with two industry and innovation awards – a bronze Edison Award in the Health, Medical & BioTech category, Wearable & Implantables subcategory, and a Silver Stevie Award for Technology Excellence in the Healthcare Technology category. “RF Healthʼs MAC System represents a significant leap in healthcare technology by addressing critical issues associated with traditional pneumatic compression devices,” said a Stevie Award judge. “The company’s dedication to enhancing patient care and recovery makes them a deserving candidate.”
Expanding Expertise
A new board member will be joining the RF Health team in 2025 – Todd Albert, M.D., surgeon-in-chief at Hospital for Special Surgery and professor of orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Albert specializes in orthopedic spine surgery with a focus on disorders of the cervical spine. He has an interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques and image-guided technologies in the management of spinal disorders, and serves on the boards of several scholarly journals. Before the Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. Albert was chairman of the Department of Orthopedics and president of The Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He looks forward to helping guide RF Health through its next phase of growth.
